The Tricks That Are Helping Busy Moms and Dads Lose Weight Consistently

With the second round of New Age Nutrition Club around the
corner I want to share with you the 4 habits we will be working on and one
simple actionable step you can walk away with to being your journey.

Now I chose these habits because I feel they are very important, easy to follow, and will help you get long-lasting results. By no means do I feel these are the “best” habits or the first ones everyone needs to start with but I do feel they give a lot of bang for your buck.

Habit #1: Plan

Balanced Meals

I truly believe if everyone simply took a little extra time to plan their meals they would start seeing greater results. Planning your meals helps you to control your environment and not leave things up to chance. If you don’t plan and have to make a quick decision about what to eat and often times that decision is not in line with your goals. Planning puts you in the driver seat.

A simple way to start planning is to pick one day out of the week (I like Sunday) and sit down for 10 minutes and plan.  Look at your schedule of the week ahead, and chose 3 meals that you can plan and prep for then write it down. If you take the time before hand it will be much easier to have a balanced meal. Do not think you have to plan for a full week or do 10 hours of cooking on a Sunday to consider it “Meal Prepping”.

Habit #2: Eat Mostly

Whole Foods

While the first habit focused on how you eat our second habit focuses more on what you eat. I think we all can agree that fresh and whole foods are a better option than processed foods. They provide your body with greater energy, nutrients, are often lower in calories, and help keep you full longer.

One tip that will help you eat mostly whole foods is to do most of your shopping on the edge of the grocery store. This is where most of the whole foods are kept, fruits, veggies, protein, dairy etc. Now you may need to grab a few things from the inner isles such as oils, nut butters, low calorie condiments and that is okay. Just try to spend the majority of your time on the edges.

Habit #3:  Eat Protein and Colorful Vegetables at Each

Meal

As I mentioned before eating lean proteins and vegetables is great for increasing your energy, feeling fuller longer, and reducing the amount of calories. To take it a step further I want you to try to eat protein and colorful vegetables at each meal. Different colors of vegetables provide different nutrients to your body.

If you want to play a game with this one try experimenting, try one new vegetable each week. If you want to take it a step further try to have a different colored one each week too. There are so many vegetables out there I doubt you have tried all of them.

Habit #4: Sleep

Yes, you read that right! Sleep is one of the habits we will be working on in the New Age Nutrition Club. Improving both the amount of sleep you get and the quality of sleep will have drastic impacts on your weight loss. Now I don’t want to get into the deep science of sleep because that would take forever, but, studies have shown that people who lack sleep and quality sleep have increase hunger hormones. You know what happens when you have increased hunger hormones? You eat more. There are tons of different tools and strategies we will work on to help improve your sleep hygiene. One of them is trying to eliminate blue light at least 30 minutes before you go to sleep. It would be best to eliminate any screens or light 30 minutes prior, however if you need to be looking at a screen you can purchase a pair of those blue light blocking glasses. This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to all of these habits. In our New Age Nutrition Club, we will be diving much deeper into all of them and really practicing each habit to a T.  We know that more information is not what you need, action and consistent action is what you need. We have designed this program to help hold you accountable every step of the way.
