The Most Simple and Best Exercise For People 50+

If you have been on social media lately I am sure you have seen a few videos of some crazy workout that looks more like a torture routine or circus act than an actual workout. Chances are a young male is doing the workout with no shirt on and a chiseled six-pack or a female with excessive sweat wearing only a sports bra and short shorts.

Logically you may think that these are the workouts that help those people achieve the bodies they have. If you have been following my blogs for a while you already know that nutrition is going to have the biggest impact on your weight loss and not your workouts.
The problem with social media is that we only see a snip of the whole picture. We see a few minutes of the full workout that is probably at least an hour long.
We see a snapshot of the most complex “cool” looking part of the workout because that is what will grab people’s attention. Most of the time these people are doing simple exercises, focusing on their nutrition, and getting plenty of sleep.
Today I want to share with you one exercise that we use here at Core Principles with all of our people 50 plus to help them get strong, increase their quality of life, and help boost fat burning.
Farmer carries
Farmer carries are one of the simplest exercises you can do that will still give you a ton of benefits. Farmer carries will help strengthen your abs, shoulders, legs, core and pretty much everything in your body. They are so simple that pretty much anyone can do them. I would recommend starting light if you do have some back or shoulder pain just to make sure you are in a good position the whole time.
Next time you are in the gym give some farmer carries a try. I would recommend starting with walking for 1 minute then taking a one-minute rest and doing that about 3-5 times. You will be surprised how hard it can be if you are using an appropriate weight.
